Periodic Inspections

Beyond construction criteria and T codes requirements, it is also important that containers are checked on a regular basis during their life.

For such purpose, Transport Regulations have defined periodic inspections scheme. The shell and items of equipment of each portable tank must be inspected and tested at not more than five-year intervals (5 year periodic inspection and test) with an intermediate periodic inspection (2,5 year periodic inspection and test) midway between the 5 year inspections and test.

They consist of :

2,5 year inspection :

Internal and external examination of the tank and its fittings.
Leakproofness test.
Test of the satisfactory operation of all service equipment.

5 year inspection :

These periodic inspections must be performed or witnessed by an expert approved by the competent authority.
